I agree with author – all kind of registrations work like anti-spam systems. Also, Akismet is great – “Delete all” and work done:)

Well I’m new to blogging and I was impressed by this information. I have a blog moderation in place which I thought would protect the site from spiteful users but I can see now it might deter people now from commenting.

Well im sure its fine to leave comments open as long as spammers dont target you and you have time to vet all comments.

my article site is open for *posting articles* with no captcha, but I get to approve all articles and it works like a charm, I get even too many articles
be free.

While I agree with you in principle, Roman, I think a blog needs to grow popular enough in order to benefit from registered-only comments.
