WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get. This acronym is used to distinguish a category of various media editors (graphics editors and text editors, for example), which represent the content you edit in almost the same way as the final product.

For instance, if you're talking about a WYSIWYG text editor, this implies that you're going to see your text on your screen in the same way it will look when you print it out - the same families and sizes of fonts, the same formatting, etc.
